In my other posts, I shared about the battles my family fought with health and our marriage. But there was another battle raging at the exact same time. It was a battle that hit a man differently than almost anything else.
The collapse of my business back home. From employing over 30 people to being left with just two, all within the space of two years.
I watched it happen, powerless to stop it, because that same season hit me from every side. When the storms came, I chose to fight for my family, even as the business quietly bled in the background.

There is a specific kind of pain when you look at your life and think, “I have a God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills,” yet you are dreading the mailbox because you don’t know how to pay the next bill.
It is disorienting. You go from feeling like you have a handle on life to wondering if you will have a roof over your head. And for a man, a husband, and a father, that weight is crushing.
You look at your family, and you feel the biblical mandate to provide, but your hands are empty. You feel like you have failed. The shame sits on your chest like a stone.
I want to tell you that I have been there. I have stared at the ceiling at 3 AM, doing math that didn’t add up.

Let’s Talk About The God of Second Chances
Before we pray, we need to settle one thing.
Maybe you are here because of the economy. Or maybe, if you are honest, you are here because you made a mistake. Maybe you blew a chance. Maybe you put money into a bad investment that God warned you about, but you did it anyway.
Now, you are looking at the wreckage and thinking, “I disqualified myself.” No, you didn’t.
God deals with us as children, not as employees. You don’t get fired from being a son or a daughter.
Remember the story of the Prodigal Son? Jesus Himself told this story, which makes it the ultimate authority on how God treats people who mess up.
The son took his inheritance early. He left his father. He wasted every single penny on wild living until he was eating with pigs. He had nothing left.
He thought, “I will go back and just be a servant.” He thought he had lost his place in the family. But what happened?
When the father saw him coming—dirt, smell, shame, and all—he ran to him. He didn’t lecture him; he threw a robe on him and threw a party.
If the prodigal son deserved another chance, you deserve another one. God is not just a Creator; He is a Restorer.
Here are prayers to help you walk from the pig pen back to the palace.
Prayers for Financial Restoration
1. A Prayer for Mercy (When You Blame Yourself)
Why this prayer? Shame is a paralyser. If you believe your financial ruin is your fault, you will hide from God instead of running to Him. This prayer clears the air. It admits the mistake but claims the sonship.
“Father, I come to You honestly. I made mistakes. I took risks I shouldn’t have taken, and I managed resources poorly. I am sorry. But Lord, I thank You that Your mercy is bigger than my financial mistakes. I am still Your child. I ask for Your forgiveness. Wash away this guilt and shame. I am coming home to You, trusting that You still have a plan for my life. Amen.”
2. A Prayer for Immediate Provision (The Daily Bread)
Why this prayer? Sometimes you don’t need a 5-year plan; you need groceries for Tuesday. This puts the focus on God as the immediate source of survival.
“Lord, You taught us to pray, ‘Give us this day our daily bread.’ Right now, I have immediate needs. The bills are piling up, and the cupboard is getting low. Jehovah Jireh, I ask You to provide. Send help from the north, south, east, and west. Make a way where there is no way. Sustain my family this week. I trust You to keep us afloat. Amen.”
3. A Prayer for Supernatural Restoration
Why this prayer? You don’t just want to survive; you want to recover what was lost. God promises in Joel to “restore the years the locusts have eaten.”
“God, the enemy has stolen so much from us—our savings, our business, our security. But You are the God of Restoration. I stand on Your Word that says You will restore the years the locusts have eaten. I ask for a supernatural turnaround. Bring back what was lost. Open doors that no man can shut. Rebuild my business and my finances better than they were before. Amen.”
4. A Prayer for Wisdom and Strategy
Why this prayer? Money usually doesn’t fall from the sky; it comes through ideas, work, and wisdom. You need a new strategy to get out of this hole.
“Holy Spirit, I need a plan. My old ways didn’t work. Give me divine wisdom. Show me where to invest, what to sell, and where to work. Give me a creative idea that can change our financial situation. Open my eyes to opportunities I am missing. Guide my hands to prosper. I am listening for Your instruction. Amen.”
5. A Prayer Against the Spirit of Poverty and Debt
Why this prayer? Debt feels like a chain around your neck. You need to break the cycle of lack spiritually.
“In the name of Jesus, I speak to this mountain of debt. I declare that it will be moved. I rebuke the spirit of poverty that is trying to settle in my home. I am a child of the King, and lack is not my portion. I ask for supernatural cancellation of debts and the discipline to walk in financial freedom. Break these chains, Lord. Amen.”
6. A Prayer for Contentment in the Waiting
Why this prayer? Restoration takes time. This prayer helps you keep your sanity and your faith while you are walking through the valley.
“Father, while I wait for the breakthrough, keep my heart right. Help me not to be jealous of others. Help me to be content with what I have right now. Remind me that You are enough. You provided manna in the wilderness, and You will provide for us. I choose to trust You even when the bank account is low. You are my treasure. Amen.”
Friend, You Are More Than Your Net Worth
To the man reading this who feels like he has lost his dignity: Your value was never in your bank account. It was settled on the Cross.
You are not a failure; you are a fighter who is currently in a hard round. The bells haven’t rung yet. The fight isn’t over. Lift your head. The Father is running toward you, and He has a robe and a ring ready.
