Can you imagine? You are praying for a new parent! You must be a lovely person. Do you know praying is the best gift ever that can be offered to anyone new to parenting?
One may think loving a new baby can be nothing other than a pleasure ride, but stressful moments that accompany caring for a little one can drown all the emotions of love in the heart of the parent especially new bees, and push such into depression. So, I can assure you that you are doing the right thing!
Okay! Let’s start praying already for this new mommy and daddy with the baby already.
Prayer for New Mom, Dad and the Baby
Dear Lord and father of everything that has life, we bless you for the bundle of joy you’ve given to this family and for your timeless mercies for them. We ask in prayer for these new parents that the presence of the child shall be of endless blessings in Jesus name.
1. Prayer of Thanksgiving for a New Parent
“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is his reward. Like arrows are in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. (Psalm 127:3-4)”. Lord thank you for blessing this family with the joy of having a new baby and entrusting them with your heritage.
Father, you are the source of life, thank you for making this mother fruitful. Thank you for giving mercy for the pregnancy to come to full term. Thank you, Lord, for standing with the mother through the trying season of delivery. We are grateful for using the doctors and nurses to help the mother have a safe delivery. I am so grateful that we are not sorrowing over any member of this family today.
Dear Lord, thank you for bringing the mother and the baby home safely; thank you for stopping the mouth of the enemy over their lives. Thank you, dear Lord, for now allowing any kind of complication to arise both on the mother and the new baby.
Father Lord, I thank you for your promise in your word Psalm 121:4 “Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep”. This is the confidence we have in you that you will keep watch over this family as they care for this new baby in the name of Jesus.
2. Prayer of Wisdom for A New Parent
Heaven Father, I pray for this new parent that you filled them with the wisdom they need to raise this baby in a godly way. I know that raising a godly child is not by over-beating or over-pampering, but by knowing what to do for the well-being of the child per time; please give the parents the wisdom to handle every situation well in Jesus name.
In James 3:17, The scripture recounts “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy”. The true judge of who is a godly child is, is the Lord, so I ask dear Lord that you will bless these new parents with the wisdom that is from above; that they will be able to raise this baby as a godly seed in Jesus name.
I declare that this new parent is filled with wisdom and understanding that will enable them to raise this new baby to be an icon of grace in the name of Jesus. I pray that they receive grace to be the example this baby new in all things in Jesus name.
3. Prayer of Financial Prosperity for A New Parent
Heavenly Father, I pray that this beloved one who just had a new baby is blessed with abundance to cater for all the needs of the baby. I declare that lack is banished totally from this family for the sake of this new baby in the name of Jesus.
The scripture says that we shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water and we shall flourish. I pray that this family will flourish abundantly; anything you lay your hands to do will prosper by the power of life.
You will never borrow to care for your needs but the Lord God sends his angels in assignment for your sake to stir up people to favour you out of measure in the name of Jesus. Your storehouse will never go dry because the law of dew of the morning is set in motion in your life in the name of Jesus.
This family is rooted and grounded on the field of abundance in the name of Jesus. I proclaim financial prosperity on your right and on the left in the name of Jesus. Thanksgiving will always be your song; you will never complain or murmur because of lack.
You are empowered to overtake the spirit of lack in your family by the energy in the power of the Holy Ghost!
4. Prayer of Love for a New Parent
I speak over this new parent; the spirit of love saturates your home in the name of Jesus. This family receives the grace to keep pouring love on the new baby without feeling drained in the name of Jesus.
Many couples forget to love each other because they get too busy with the new baby; I declare that the bond of love between you two gets stronger in Jesus name. The desire to think of each other above yourselves and the baby, the Lord gives you in Jesus name.
The spirit of selflessness and love takes over the spirit of selfishness and envy in the name of Jesus. Your ears are opened to the voice of the Holy Spirit to be instructed in the way of love.
You are enabled to prefer others more than yourself. In your family, the light of love radiates in the heart of every member in the name of Jesus. Gossip, lies, deceit, envy, self-conceit is not allowed to thrive in your home in the name of Jesus.
The spirit of love envelops everyone member of your family in the name of Jesus. “… where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17)” I prophesy into this new family that you receive liberty to live and reign in love in the name of Jesus.
5. Prayer for Health for a New Parent
Lord, I pray for this family (especially the mother of the baby) today that you will restore their health in the name of Jesus. As they have spent so much energy during the birth and after the birth of this baby; I proclaim that they will not fall sick, rejuvenate every part of their bodies; let them come alive in the name of Jesus.
Let every germ, disease they’ve unknowingly come in contact with, die this minute in the name of Jesus. Life swallows up death in victory in their bodies in the name of Jesus.
No member of this family is allowed to bow to sickness because “at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord”, so I declare that every sickness, disease, germs or virus, no matter what the name may be, that wants to plague this family, I say, hear the voice of the Lord and bow your knees to the majestic name of Jesus.
Lord of hosts, I declare according to your words in Exodus 15:26“… I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord that heals you”. I pray that this family is preserved and healed from any kind of sickness or disease in this season in Jesus name.
6. Prayer for Strength for a New Parent
King of Kings and Lord of Lords, you who holds the whole world in the palms of your hands; I pray for strength for this family as they nurture this new baby in the name of Jesus. I can imagine the stress new parents experience as they care for every need of this new child, deck them with strength in the name of Jesus.
I declare that they can do all things through Christ who strengths them in the name of Jesus. They are strengthened with might in their inner man. I declare that the Lord sees you through all the difficult and stressful times in the name of Jesus.
Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning; may you be filled with the joy that awaits you when this baby comes to maturity that the stress you are facing now will become meaningless in the name of Jesus.
I pray that depression is not your portion in the name of Jesus. The joy of the Lord becomes your strength in caring for this new baby in Jesus name. You are decked with grace and strength to care for and nurture this baby. You are enlightened beyond confusion in the name of Jesus.
7. Prayer for Protection for a New Parent
Father Lord in heaven the scripture says in Lamentation 3:37 “Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, when the Lord has not commanded it?” Proclaim your mighty power over this family as they care for their new baby in the name of Jesus.
You are the good shepherd over our souls, I decree and declare that anyone that there is no divination against this family, no enchantment against them shall stand. Dear Lord let your anger burn sore against anyone that stands against them in judgment in the mighty name of Jesus.
Anyone that gathers against this family scatters for their sake in the name of Jesus. Any counsel taken against them will never stand. I decree peace over all that concerns this family. The eye of the Almighty that never sleeps nor slumber keeps watch over this family as they care for the heritage of God in the name of Jesus.
The roar of the Lord puts all the enemies of this family to flight in the name of Jesus. Lord, command your blessing, presence and protection over this family as they raise this new baby in the name of Jesus.
