Prayer Before Marriage Counseling

Having the need to pray to God over every area of life is very important especially as a true believer. Prayers are believers’ ways of warring over any issue no matter how minor; and believe me, you can never be wrong in inviting God into any aspect of your life.

There are many aspects of life where prayers come in useful. One of them is a marriage counselling session which you are about to go for. You may either be the husband, wife or even the counsellor/counsellors in charge. You may also know someone who is on their way to the counselling room.

I strongly believe that counselling couples is as important in the marriage as many other things that help build the home, especially if all the counsels given are counsels based on God’s words, taken and maximally used whenever the need arises. It makes the marriage an ideal marriage even if there are differences in behaviour and in the way issues are misconceived. If these misconceptions are not properly managed, they could wreck a home.

It is a painful reality that many things could destroy a home. Another example is when you do not utilize counsels given while in the marriage. You as a counsellor won’t feel happy if your counsels are not taken. Also, you could be the counsellor that have had few counselling sessions that went awry especially if either the husband or wife is impatient and badly hurt. These are the many reasons for the urgent need to pray before going for a marriage counselling. So, endeavour to use the following samples of prayer before marriage counseling for yourself or someone you cherish.

1. King of glory and Father of light, I ask that you shed your light on today’s counselling session as we gather. Take away any form of argument and quarrel. Control every negative thoughts and speech that may hurt anyone’s feelings. This I pray in Jesus’ name.

2. Let this counselling session be filled with so much harmony and proffer solutions to the many problems and complaints that the couple could be having so that at the end of the day, there would be a sparkling light of love in their hearts again.

3. Lord, glorify and exalt your name in this counselling session. We know you as the creator and founder of our lives. You are the creator of marriage so we ask that you settle every troubled heart. We stand by your word to give peace to every troubled soul. This I pray in Jesus’ name.

4. Jesus, our Saviour, take full charge of this counselling session. As we go, put your soothing words in the counsellor’s mouth and on his/ her lips to speak peace into this marriage. We bless your name, Jesus.

5. Take away every form of regret and put your unwavering peace in the couple’s heart. Fill us all with the true understanding of marriage. Let love circulate round our hearts in Jesus’ name. Let your truth stay with us and the devil will not cheat us by taking away our blessings. This we pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
