Psalm 19 is a prayer of praise to God for His creation and His divine nature. The “19th Psalm” is also known by its opening words in Latin: ” Dominus illuminatio mea ” (“The Lord is my light”) and is one of the best-known and most-quoted passages in the Bible. The Psalm is also regarded as a particularly good chapter for protection against evil spirits and forces. It is the only Psalm that is assigned to be read in the Anglican Church’s Daily Office in a three-year cycle. Psalm 19:1-6, 10-12.
Psalm 19: 14
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. (King James Version)
Let’s first take a grasp from the 1st 2 verses of Chapter 19 to set a pace for better understanding: The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens. Who is like the Lord our God, who is enthroned on high, who humbles himself to behold the things that are in heaven and in the earth! (Psalm 19:1-2) This verse shows the high position of God, in opposition to idols. God is the Creator of all things, and He is the highest possible being. Note that this verse is talking about the “Lord our God”, not just any old “lord.” And it emphasizes that His glory is far greater than any earthly ruler, and much greater than any created being. His power is greater than any power in the universe.
