Everything needs prayer, whether good, bad, beautiful or ugly. And every season sure needs some words of prayer to God, whether it’s the start of a season, the middle or the end of it.
At least, we’ve been instructed in the word of God to pray ceaselessly.

Prayer for First Day of School (New Term or Session)
Lord we thank you for the blessing of being alive to see this new term and session. We deeply appreciate your protection and love over us and our family during the holidays. Father, we say thank you.
Heavenly father we ask that you will see us through this new term, just like mountains surround Jerusalem, we pray you will surround this whole community with your presence, we pray you bless this whole school community with your presence. We pray for the school management that you bless them with the spirit of true leadership to stir the wheels of the whole school to great success this term. We pray for all our teachers that you bless them with abundant grace to carry out their duties with strength and ease, that they receive ability to teach and pass across knowledge to their students. We pray for your mercy upon their families that as they care for other children you will keep theirs in your love and grace in the name of Jesus.
We pray for all the students that you will bless them greatly too. Dear Lord, bless every mind with brightness and excellence. As you blessed Daniel with an excellent spirit, Lord bless every student with outstanding memory to perform excellently in their studies this term. Grant the students grace for quick understanding in every lesson. We also pray for the ability to perform excellently well in all competitions (within and without the school premises), tests and exams through the term in Jesus name.
We also pray for good health through the term for every member this community. We pray that everyone is protected from evil. We declare that every journey from home to school is preserved in Jesus name. We declare that no death of whether young or old will be recorded in our midst throughout the term in Jesus name.
We declare peace over this school on all sides in the name of Jesus and so, we declare the term opened in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. This term is blessed and we record success, health and prosperity on all sides in Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Back to School Prayer for College Students
Lord, I thank you for how you saw me through High school and thank you for making it possible for me to be in college. Lord, I am so full of expectations for this new phase of my life. So, I put my trust in you, because you have said in your word that we should trust in you in all of our ways and you will make our paths straight. Father, I pray that you will guide my heart through with every decision-making process I will have to go through in college. Lord I humbly ask that you will be with my family, calm my mum’s worrying heart; help her to know that I will be fine. I also pray that you’ll be with my little siblings; look out for them especially in school.
Lord I also ask that you will order my steps in your word. I pray you will lead me to the right people especially in this new environment and keep me away from the wrong company. Dear Holy Spirit help me to be a good judge of character. I may be naive naturally but please you be my eyes and heart. Help me not to look down on anyone and strengthen my heart against demeaning words. I will have roommates, please heavenly Father, make them nice people. Give me wisdom to deal with challenging roommates and strengthen me to stand against wrongs. Help me to be a true light in darkness especially to the unbelieving people around me. Help me to be a pattern of a believer in purity and godliness.
Lord I pray you will help me choose my electives right. Lead me to the right professors and help me find favour in their sight. As I am being taught, grant me grace for quick understanding. Give me the courage to ask questions when I am not clear and brighten my mind to give brilliant answers when needed. Lord, I pray that you will help me to have good class behaviour, help me to be proactive especially in my academics. Grant me the willingness to study as much as I should for outstanding success at the end of the semester. Lord bless me with the spirit of punctuality and alertness in every class. Teach me how to study effectively Lord, I do not just want to read; help me to be critical in my study. Help me not to slack at taking notes in class. Help me not to miss opportunities to meet with my professors when I need extra help and also to make the best use of study groups. Help me to be a good leader and excellent team player in every group/pair work. Lord, help me to always finish and submit my tasks, assignments and course work in good time. Deliver me from the fault of procrastination, help me to be hard working and be always on time. I want to be a good example to others.
Father, I pray that you will bless my mind with abundant wisdom, knowledge and understanding to excel splendidly in all my courses this semester. Grant me victory over difficult and challenging courses and help me to equally pay attention to the easy ones. Give me the mind of my professors, help me understand their demands, especially how to answer their questions satisfactorily. I pray that I will have strong grades to build a healthy G.P.A. at the end of this semester and session. Grant me focus oh, Lord that I will not give in to the numerous distractions on campus, keep me from impetuous friends and colleagues. Lord I pray that you will grant me the grace to prepare hard for every test and that my exams will be a work over.
Father in the midst of the busy schedule I envisage I will have in school, help me to still keep a strong relationship with my friends and family at home, especially my group members in church. Help me not to take advantage of their love. I pray Lord; that you will strengthen my body throughout this semester and session against sicknesses and diseases. Teach me how to feed well that I may stay healthy.
Dear Father, keep my heart from getting entangled in emotional issues. Lord, give me wisdom on how to handle all relationships you bring across my way in the purity of the Spirit.
Finally, Lord pray that you strengthen my fellowship with you no matter how busy I get in school. I receive grace to be the best I can be this semester in Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Back to School Prayer for High School Students
Dear father, I thank you for the dawn of a new day. I thank you for your mercies upon my life. Lord, thank you for thank you for bringing back to school. I thank you for the great time I got to spend with my family during the holidays.
I pray that you begin this new session with me. I pray for every member of the School Management Team, Lord be with them and help them to lead our school to greater heights this term in Jesus name. I pray that you will be with every school leader too in the name of Jesus. Lord, I pray you’ll grant me wisdom, knowledge and understanding for an excellent performance in my academics this term. I declare that my mind is blessed in the name of Jesus lord. Lord teach me how to use my time profitably. Give me the mind of my teachers Lord. Enhance my ability to understand as I am taught.
Lord, lead me to the right friends, help me not to company with the wrong peers but with friends who will complement my weakness.
I pray Lord that you will bless my teachers with capability to teach me perfectly. Lord, I pray that during tests and exams you will help me prepare well and remember all have been taught and all I read and studied. Keep my mind from making unpardonable errors in the name of Jesus. I pray that I will not fall sick through this term in the name of Jesus.

Students’ Prayer for Retentive Memory
Lord, I thank you for your mercies upon my life. You said in your word that If any lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men liberally, and upbraids not; and it will be given to him. I come before you father to ask that you will bless my memory with wisdom for excellent performance in my studies. My mind is blessed with brightness and alertness during my lessons.
My memory receives accelerated ability to comprehend as I read and study. I declare that I have the mind of my all my teachers.
I receive the spirit of a sound mind. My mind is not weak in understanding. I enjoy my studies because your brightness is my company in the name of Jesus. Any subject that I have been struggling with I receive ease for perfect understanding of the name of Jesus. My memory receives ability to recollect what I have been taught, what I have read and studied. I do not forget what I have read or studied in time of need. Student’s Prayer for Courage
Heavenly Father, I thank you for my life. I thank you for how you’ve been so good to me. Thank you for bringing me to this new phase of life. Father, I ask that you’ll grant me courage to meet up with the expectations of being a teenager. I ask for your mercy to face challenges and emerge victorious.
The scriptures says in (Isaiah 46: 10) ” Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:”
Lord lead me to make the right choice of a future career. Help me not to follow the crowd grant me the courage to stand by your will against all odds.
Lord, grant me the courage to encounter difficult subjects and topics with a positive mind. As my teachers teach me, give me courage to ask questions when I am not clear. I receive boldness to also answer questions in class.
My parents keep stressing that I have to be responsible. Lord, please help me understand the meaning of being responsible and grant me the courage to live my life to responsibly.
Father, according to your promise in (Hebrews 10: 16) you said “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;” grant me the boldness to respond to situations according to your laws. Help me to stand against bullies, speak up for the bullied and that I will not be a bully myself.
Father grant the spirit of Focus, Determination and Commitment. Give me courage to stay focused in the presence of distractions. Help me to study while others are not.
Lord grant me the courage to stay contented with what my parents give me. Father, one thing that plagues my age is peer pressure. Give me the courage oh, Lord to stand against peer pressure. Give me the grace to chose the right friends a d peers in the name of Jesus. Grant me the enablement to stay away from friends who will be of detrimental effect to my development in the name of Jesus.
Lord, I thank you for giving me a bold spirit in Jesus name I have prayed, Amen.
Student’s Prayer for Understanding
Lord, I thank you for giving me life and loving me even before I knew you. I pray today that you bless my mind with abundant understanding. Lord, you promised in your word saying ” And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. ” (John 14: 13) So, I ask Lord enhance my ability for effective understanding especially in my academics. According to Exodus 31: 3 ” and I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,” fill me with spirit of understanding dear Lord.
I pray that you’ll bless my teachers with the creativity and finesse to make each topic very vivid in their explanations. Strengthen them to break all the difficult topics into tiny bits that my mind will be able to comprehend them easily.
Lord, I pray for the enablement to always read and study even when exams and tests are not around the corner. Give me the ability to stretch myself beyond the limits my mind has created for itself. Lord, as I read let your spirit be my guide. The scriptures says in 1 Corinthians 2: 11 ” For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.” I pray that the holy spirit will give me the mind of my teachers and examiners. I pray that my mind is fruitful by the power of life in Christ Jesus.
Lord, you know me from within, lead me to the right study mates. Colleagues who will effectively complement me. I pray that my mind will absorb knowledge as I am being taught. You have said in your word ” But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.” (Job 32:8) I declare that I am inspired by the spirit of Christ unto academic brilliance and excellence in the name of Jesus. Lord, I receive answers to all my prayers in Jesus name I pray, Amen.
A Teacher’s Prayer for Students’ Retentive Memory
Father of wisdom and grace, I thank you for each of my student. I pray for them passionately today that you bless them with bright minds. David said in the scriptures dear Lord that you made him wiser than his teachers. I pray for these students that their understanding will increase more and more till they exceed all boundaries set for them in the name of Jesus. As I teach them, grant them ability for easy understanding. Jesus, I pray that their memory receives ability to recollect what I have taught them. May they be able retain what they have read and studied. Help them to ignore distractions and grant them acute focus.
Many of these students were very inquisitive, but are losing that virtue because of the distractions of growth. Lord, I humbly ask for these wonderful students that you bless their minds with a deep desire for knowledge, help them to love to study. I pray that as they study, may their minds absorb knowledge greatly. Bless their minds with alertness. Give unto them Lord a sound mind, help them to overcome their fears in my subject especially. I declare that their mind is not weak. Help them Lord to enjoy their study and bless them with a calm and conducive atmosphere when they are studying. Show their hearts topics of emphasis and grant them understanding in the name of Jesus. I bless the memory of these students with abundance grace in Jesus name, Amen.
Teachers’ Prayer for Strength
Lord I thank you for providing this job. I thank you for your blessings upon my job, Lord accept my thanks in Jesus name. Lord, I pray for strength today to carry out my duties as a teacher effectively in the name of Jesus. Help me to be a proper role model for all my students in the name of Jesus. I pray for the grace to live an exemplary life to rest upon me. Help me to lead these young ones by example. Lord, I am an employee in my school, I also pray you will grant me grace to do my work without little or no supervision. Be my intrinsic motivation to do my work effectively. Help me to meet up with targets, help me to always beat deadlines and help me to be proactive in all my actions in the name of Jesus.
Father, I also ask for the wisdom to deal with my colleagues as a great team player. Help me to work in peaceful harmony with them all. Help me to mind my business and also be caring when it’s needed. Lord, I pray that you’ll also help me to be an example of a believer in all conversations with my colleagues.
Lord, I pray that you will grant me patience with my students, help me come down to their level and understand life the way they see it. Help me to honour and respect them even when they behave unreasonably. I pray Lord for the grace to be firm and fair in every matter and to every student. Help me to be sensitive to their needs and grant me the courage to ignore those I should.
I pray for wisdom to have a great mastery of my subject matter. I pray you will help me to pass across the knowledge of my subject with the right words and illustrations. May my students not struggle to understand as I teach. Bless me with the strength to go the extra mile with all my students. Strengthen me not to leave the weak ones behind and give me the skill to always challenge the high fliers to be better. Teachers’ Prayer for Wisdom
Heavenly Father, I thank you for blessing me with the freshness of a new day. The scriptures says ” With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.” (Job 12: 13), so I receive the wisdom to be an outstanding employee as a teacher in my school. I receive the wisdom to work seamlessly with other colleagues.
I declare that I am blessed with wisdom to pass knowledge across to my students. I am blessed with wisdom from above on mastery to be an effective teacher. I declare that I am filled with enlightenment to how to handle each of my students in wisdom, they are not too difficult for me in Jesus name. My students do not outsmart me because the Lord fills my heart with the light of his wisdom.
I am blessed with wisdom to be the role model my students need to remain focused and committed. I am a teacher decked with the riches of the wisdom of Christ. I do not lack understanding and wisdom on how to influence the lives of people around me in the name of Jesus. Lord, I thank you for answering my prayers, in Jesus name I have prayed.
