If this pain were physical, you would go to any length to fix it.
You would borrow money.
You would seek help immediately.
You would do whatever it takes to heal, because you know what life feels like when the body is whole. You know how good it feels to smile freely, to enjoy what you have worked for, and to live without constant pain.
But this pain is different.
This is a crumbling kind of defeat.
You did not step into a ring willingly. Someone else pulled you into it. Your dignity was struck repeatedly, not with fists, but with words, control, manipulation, neglect, or silence. And the bruises were not visible, but they were real.
You did not deserve what happened to you.
You were plundered.
You were reeled in and left exposed.
You were worn down in ways that made you question yourself.
And it is important to say this clearly:
What happened to you was not your fault.
But as you put a name to the pain, it is also important to shift your focus to the real culprit behind this destruction. Scripture does not shy away from naming him.
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.”
John 10:10
Emotional abuse steals identity.
It kills confidence.
It destroys inner peace.
That is its nature.
But that verse does not end there.
“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
John 10:10
This is the part we hold onto.
God does not minimise what you went through.
He does not excuse it.
And He does not leave you there.
There is a life beyond this pain.
There is healing beyond this violation.
There is inner restoration beyond what was taken from you.
And that abundant life, I pray, will begin to unfold for you now.
The prayers that follow are not rushed words. They are invitations for God to touch places that were harmed slowly, deeply, and unfairly.
Say them at your pace. Pause where you need to. Healing does not hurry, but it does come.
