This prayer is for the one who is not just tired, but emptied.
You have given. You have shown up. You have kept going.
But somewhere along the way, something started leaking.
At first, it was manageable. A small loss of energy here. A little less patience there. You told yourself you would rest later. You would recover soon. But the leak continued. Quietly. Constantly. Until now, it feels like there is more chance of drowning than getting out.
You are not at the edge anymore.
You are at the bottom of the barrel.
Down to the last drop.
When emotional drain reaches this point, effort no longer helps. Motivation cannot patch the hole. Encouragement feels distant. You are not lazy. You are not weak. You are depleted.
And when depletion reaches this depth, what you need is not another strategy.
You need a miracle that has your name on it.
Enters… Peter in the Water
There is a moment in Scripture where Peter steps out of the boat and onto the water. At first, he walks. But then the waves catch his attention. Fear rises. Strength slips. And suddenly, Peter is not walking anymore.
He is sinking.
He does not give a long speech.
He does not explain himself.
He does not fix the water beneath him.
He cries out with the last bit of breath he has.
And Jesus responds immediately.
Not after Peter regains strength.
Not after he swims back.
But right there, in the moment of sinking.
Jesus calls him by name and reaches out.
But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” Matthew 14:30.
And Here Is Where You Are
This moment you are in feels like that water.
You are not calmly floating.
You are not recovering.
You are sinking.
Emotionally. Quietly. Rapidly.
You are down to the last reserves of hope, patience, and resilience. You are looking around, wondering if anything can still fill you. If anything can stop the drain. If anyone sees how close you are to giving up.
Here is the good news.
He knows your name.
Not your performance.
Not your endurance.
Not how long you have lasted.
Your name.
And my prayer for you today is this:
That you will hear Him call you,
That the emotional toll you have been carrying will come to an end,
And that which has been draining you will no longer have authority over your life.
You do not have to climb out on your own.
You do not have to patch yourself up first.
