Somewhere along the way, reading the Bible became a measurement.
You started counting chapters.
Tracking streaks.
Noticing gaps.
And now, instead of opening Scripture with peace, you open it with guilt.
If this is you, let me say this gently.
The Bible was never meant to become a reminder of your failure.
It was meant to be a place of meeting.
God does not watch the days you miss with disappointment.
He does not close Himself off because your rhythm is inconsistent.
Scripture is not a test you pass or fail.
It is a conversation you return to.
Some seasons allow long, quiet reading.
Other seasons only allow a single verse held in tired hands.
Both matter.
You are not a lesser Christian because your Bible is sometimes closed.
You are not distant from God because life has been loud.
The same God who speaks through chapters also speaks through moments.
Through memory.
Through whispers of truth you carry even when the pages stay untouched.
Do not let guilt keep you from the very thing meant to give you life.
God does not shame you into closeness.
Open Scripture when you can.
Close it when you must.
And trust that God remains present in both.
Grace does not disappear when discipline feels hard.
God is still near.
